So, China is fucked up. By now you may have read some of my insights into China. If not, read my fucking blog. Click around, find some Chinese things, and there you go. But I'm guessing I know what your next question is: Why is China fucked up?
The answer: Communism.
But propaganda aside, they are fucked up. The other night, I was talking to my wife about our future trip to China. We were talking about all the things we would do, and then she said, "By the way, if you see a Chinese grandpa or grandma fall in the street, do not help them up." ......Now, I know I'm an asshole, but it seems fucked up to just leave an elderly person in the street. My wife said that I should ask her Cousin Soup about why.
I asked Soup, and he said that helping an old person who fell means that you are responsible for them. He said that the grandpa/grandma will take you to court, if you help them stand up. The court will ask, "Why are you helping this stranger? You must have caused them to fall. Give them your money." And just like that, I would owe this Chinese grandpa all my money.
My wife then started talking about a time when an 80-year-old, Chinese grandpa fell to the ground. She said a 78-year-old grandpa started to help him, and the 80-year-old started to say that the 78-year-old made him fall. Rather than be held responsible, the 78-year-old grandpa then laid next to the 80-year-old grandpa to get out of it. And so there you have two old, Chinese grandpas, laying on the ground, with nobody to help them up. Because fuck old people.
Moral of the Story: If you see an old grandpa or grandma on the ground in China, fuck 'em.
