My Wife Saw Kobe Bryant

In talking to my wife, I have learned so much about the Chinese culture. One thing that I learned is that China is racist like shit. I mean, goddamn. And if you doubt me, ask anyone from China about black people or Muslims. Be ready for their response. I don't know if it is legit racism, or just an appreciation of inappropriate humor. Either way, it's good to have a thick-ass hide. 

But, part of this racism is that China can be. They are a Communist country, completely dominated by the government, and isolated from much of the world. My wife was telling me about the first black person she ever saw. She was walking around in Beijing, and happened to run into Kobe Bryant. This was during the Olympics, and the US Men's Basketball Team was touring the city. Can you imagine that? Her first experience meeting anyone black, and it's Kobe Bryant. 

How does anyone compete with that? It would be like saying, "my first experience with a nerd was Mark Zuckerberg." Or saying, "my first experience with a bike was to ride a motorcycle." Sure, that may happen, but it sets a ridiculous standard. And if that standard is all you know, then that's what you assume is to be truth. My wife assumed that all black people were like Kobe. She said it was a big shock for her to come to the US, and see so many inferior black people. And before everyone gets their torches and pitchforks, she was talking inferior from a physical standpoint. Kobe Bryant is a tremendous athlete. He also happens to be an asshole that raped a girl. My wife did not know that, at the time. On semi-related note, did you know Kobe Bryant is fluent in like 5 different languages? You would surely think he would have learned the word "no" in one of them. 

Moral of the Story: China is racist and Kobe Bryant raped a girl. And no, my wife is not racist.
